This program teaches real-life STEM, with real-life principles, and real-life outcomes. That means your student will be working with actual engineering equipment—whether that involves flowing electricity, moving parts, spinning motors, sharp tools, or high temperatures! While I do everything I can to keep these classes safe (like starting with low-risk components while students are first learning), these are authentic, hands-on labs. They are not without risk, and those risks cannot be eliminated completely.
I do my best to give thorough, step-by-step safety instructions, but in a remote-learning environment, students are not under my direct supervision. I cannot be responsible for keeping students safe at home, and I cannot keep them from breaking equipment. I usually see issues happen when students proceed without waiting for instructions or when they don't follow the instructions that were given.
Because these are physical, hands-on courses, personal injury, destruction of the equipment, or damage to your home and surroundings can occur. As a parent or guardian, you must be comfortable with this reality for your student to participate. By registering for any LifeReady STEM course, you acknowledge these inherent risks, accept full responsibility for supervising your student’s safe participation at home, and agree to release LifeReady STEM LLC and its representatives from any liability for personal injury, property damage, or equipment loss that occurs.
I love to see photos and videos of students building awesome projects and experiencing the joy of engineering, and I love to share them! Photos and videos of students and their submitted work may appear on the private class forums, in parent groups, in email newsletters, or in public promotions for LifeReady STEM.
Live video calls are a core, interactive part of this class, and I want both parents and students to feel completely comfortable participating. For transparency and safety (such as ensuring an accurate record exists if there are ever behavioral concerns), I do record transcripts of these calls. However, I will never surprise you by publicly sharing video or audio of your student from these sessions. If I intend to record a live call specifically to capture video or images to share, I will notify parents beforehand. In all other cases, I will check with you directly to get your permission before sharing any recording that features your child.
I completely respect your family's privacy. If you do not want individual photos or videos of your student shared, I will do my best to accommodate that. Please email me at [email protected] or reach out for a phone call to discuss your specific requests. Please note: while I can exclude individual student photos, if your student is part of a general, submitted group photo (or future in-person event), I likely will not be able to edit them out of those specific group shots.
By registering for this course, unless an opt-out arrangement has been made in writing, you grant LifeReady STEM LLC permission, as well as a non-exclusive, royalty-free license, to use, reproduce, and share any photographs, videos, or project media featuring your student for educational, community, and marketing purposes as outlined above.
Because I order specialized equipment specifically for your student, refunds follow a timeline based on equipment purchase & shipping dates. Please review the refund phases below.
You have paid the initial $99 equipment deposit (which applies toward your total semester tuition).
Your full semester invoice is paid, but the equipment has not shipped yet.
Valid up to 21 days after the first week's module is published.
As soon as I receive payment for the semester from your school/ESA, I will refund the initial $99 equipment deposit to your original payment method.
For course cancellations, any applicable refunds must be returned directly to that program's funding source, not to the parent.
